So obviously the game did not appealed anymore to the original audience and the "mainstream" audience did not cared enough for an anonymous space TPS when you have Gears of War and much more to compete. Why ? Because EA wanted the game this way with online, MTX and more action. Not a lot of info on it yet, but hopefully it'll bring back the spirit of Dead Space.ĭead Space 3 killed the franchise is a wrong statement, EA DID. For everyone who will wants more, a lot of the Dead Space peeps are now working "Callisto Protocol". But I love the designs, setting, universe, ideas and so on. Haven't even played of them (I'm a masssiiiivvveee coward). I personally think Dead Space was the wrong franchise to try and do this with, and it would've been better for it to be a smaller scale horror focused release with smaller expectations.Īnyway, I'm no businessman or anything. I think the biggest problem is that EA wanted a big AAA hit, and that's usually not what survival horror is. You are right that it died because fans did not support it, but you could probably also argue it wasn't what the fans wanted anymore. This probably also made it compete more directly with action focused third person shooters. That doesn't necessarily make it a bad game, but I don't think that's what a majority of the fans wanted. It abandons the horror focus of the first two games in favor of action and co-op. I think most people who dislike it are pretty clear about why.
